The media's coverage of Heartbleed has gone way over the top and has regressed into mindless bashing of open source software.

The news is rife with screeching reports about the Heartbleed vulnerability, with some news outlets questioning the security model of open source. While it certainly is a bad thing, it’s also not the armageddon of the Internet that some in the media have been proclaiming it to be, and it’s not a harbinger of doom for open source software development either.
