linux-mag seems to be stripping the dashes (-) from all of the command parameters in the examples. That might make life a little tough on n00b people trying to follow their instructions. Also, he failed to mention the best DVD player that runs on Linux, Ogle. I find it to work better for watching DVDs than all the others he mentions (although it is pretty much *only* good for DVDs, the others are needed for all other formats).

If you read down the page it links to what it calls three of the best DVD players for Linux, it links to Xine :roll eyes: - never have got on with that one, Mplayer, and something from the Chambers people called Igle. Sure enough I recognized the link and it is a spelling mistake. The first time I see Ogle represented and it is spelled wrong. IMHO no DVD player I have used on a comp beats Ogle.

And they do seem to selectively strip command dashes (is there some technical phrase for these things).

Spell check doesn't recognize DVD, Xine.

Don't know what happened with the spelling, I'd guess the linux-mag spell checker incorrectly "fixed" it (I did submit as Ogle). Also, not sure why the linux-mag.com site strips the -'s, but you can also view the articles online at: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/answers.php?action=v...

Makes me wonder just what an "Igle" is... :)

dictionary.com doesn't know about it but it's interesting that the first thing it suggests is "ogle". :) http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=igle

If you are "feeling lucky" on Google, this is what you get: http://jamaligle.freeservers.com/

Sorry about that. :) This message was edited Jul 28, 2004 12:32 PM
