Ermm... I have never seen M$ Office open OOo files. Has some change in office occurred to make this happen, can anyone update me on this? The only version of M$ office in my company is '97, so I can't realistically test this.

It doesn't. You *can* save OOo files in .DOC format, although you sometimes get strange errors. I don't think the author really thought about that statement before they wrote it.
