Everything else - quality, reliability, compatibility, security, scalability, variety etc - has been aced or is slated to soon be aced by various Free Software and Open Source products and movements. All they can really offer now is the old standby "nobody ever got sued for buying X" argument.

I'm going to very unkindly quote my niece Caitlin's response (hi, Caiti!) to a friend of ours who was downplaying a gift she'd just received from someone else: "Sucker!" (-: Boy, it revolutionised said friend's attitude, who knows, it might by some slim chance revolutionise Bill's too :-)

Microsoft's headlocks on various industries is what initially drove (and still to some extent drives) the snowballing exodus to FOSS. If the situation was any more ironic, you could flatten clothes with it. A little less greed, a litte more fair play, and the "problem" may never have arisen in any serious way - just remained a hobbyist thing. "Sucker!"
