I'm sure this will be declared more FUD from Microsoft. The problem here is that calling this "FUD", while being very clear to those who understand the term, skates around the issue. This statement, like so many that are labeled "FUD", is quite simply a lie and should be labeled as such.

When one lies, it should be pointed out that one's statement is a lie. When one continuously lies, one should be called a liar.

There is no legal remedy for spreading FUD but there are legal remedies for lying about product features and business practices. While it seems unlikely that Gates & Co. will ever be held legally accountable for their deeds, we can be sure that they will never be held legally accountable for things which have no legal remedy.

Agreed. "FUD" is being used in place of "lying their heads off" and "propaganda." Not the same thing, though they are related.

I like "propaganda" because if you say it right you'll generate several spittles.
