Consider the source - if you like the INQ, then you understand where they're coming from. Often they have bits of breaking news.

As to feet-firmly-on-the-ground reporting ... this wasn't. But, then, it wasn't intended to be, either!

Serious comment about this would have simply credited Microsoft with boldness and flexibility in its strategies... and continuing creativity in their lies.

Why bother to look at code you are forbidden to touch?

Well, if the code showed some cleavage I'm sure they would look at it. Unfortunately, I don't think ascii art is very revealing.
