Microsoft is supposedly a MEMBER of OASIS, but they refused to be involved in documenting the standard, evidently because for some strange reason, the OpenDocument format wasn't designed to store "Microsoft Office 97" documents...so instead they just bastardized the OASIS format to make their own "special" version of the format (Office 12 being another XML-and-media-in-a-zip format with explicitly anti-GPL license terms on the bogus patent the USPTO happily churned out for MS on their "innovative" "Storing documents in XML" ideas...) For those who missed it, the anti-GPL term is pretty insidious. The actual GPL-incompatible requirement is extremely mild - it's just an "advertising clause". Of course, the "advertising clause" means that there are additional restrictions beyond the core GPL terms, making the patent "license" terms incompatible. Look for Microsoft to make a big fuss about how "unreasonable" GPL is over it...
