I switched from Sendmail to Postfix about one year after Postfix was open sourced. It is so much simpler to configure, even for complex mail routing, and is designed for high security. I have nothing against Sendmail, it's just clunky to work with compared to Postfix.

I agree that Postfix is great. Some additional pluses are it is well-documented, and the Postfix community is quite civilized. Some years ago I was evaluating both Postfix and Qmail, and was leaning towards Qmail because it handles higher loads (don't know if that is still true), but the Qmail community was so hostile I went with Postfix. What a bunch of flaming lunatics- it was quite extreme. I hear it's better now.

Exim is also very nice. I like having a lot of good choices.
