Microsoft threatens itself. Their insane, pathological insistence that All Our Base Are Belong To MS is hurting them as much as their shoddy product line, price-gouging, forced upgrades, lack of compatibility and interoperabilty, abysmal security, and lousy customer service.

Look at how big the computing market is now. Everything from tiny embedded devices like smartphones, fancy watches, PDAs, and managed networking devices to PCs to home multimedia to home automation to vehicles to factory production lines to engineering workstations to graphics rendering farms to mainframes to clusters to--- well, you get the idea.

And it's just the beginning- as this excellent article by Tom Adelstein demonstrates http://lxer.com/module/newswire/lf/view/46917/, the world market is still largely undeveloped.

There is plenty to go around, and Microsoft has only itself to blame if it misses out on sharing a very large pie.
