1) If you're using an older Linux version from 2001, which is around the time scale (and thus comparable) when XP was released, you won't get 2.0 support either. That (initially) didn't come until the 2.5.2 kernel, so the point is rather moot as most modern XP installs ship with SP1 or SP2 slipstreamed.

2) You can do software raid in XP, except Microsoft calls it "Dynamic Disks." You can do it in 2000 as well.

Ok, I was afraid of that, but I use Windows for that stuff too less to really know about it.
