how will this play at the FCC

Other than being three letter acronyms for government organizations, the FAA and FCC don't have much to do with each other, however the recent statement make by Deborah Tate, touting DRM has to be causing some problems somewhere. Since DRM is a Microsoft-pushed effort. In fact, I saw it here on LXer.com but haven't seen her answer yet. Looking forward to it.

you're right... One has nothing to do with the other. The FAA project with Red Hat on the other hand is certainly a good thing for Linux. It's a positive whenever any government agency adapts Linux.
