This guy simply doesn't understand the GPL, even seems incapable of it.

I understood it before my craniectomy, and still do even before cranioplasty. What's his problem?

His problem is that he understands too well what the GPL is and what it isn't. The GPL means there is an unsubvertable alternative to bloated, overpriced, non-innovative monopolyware. The Overlord Puppet Master knows this as well and is paying Wallace to go on a long shot and try and get the GPL disarmed through legal means.

Even if it fails it will garner some negative publicity for the GPL and it might deter some simpletons from switching to GPL-based software. It slows down the erosion of their high margin cash cows.

I think he's a bit of nutcase. If the Overlord Puppet Master is funding Wallace, he picked the worst representative he could possibly find. Groklaw has a number of stories on Wallace's adventures:
