The amount of stuff you can achieve with a file manager (cross web browser) just spins Windows users out completely.

Try shoving an audio CD into the drive, then using tabs to rip from audiocd:/ to fish://remotehost/Music/ & you'll get people yapping about "this great new CD program" — duh? — but that level of transparent utility is what makes programs useful, which is how I rate things. The ’doze users get spun out by the ability to bookmark a CD track in various formats.

I use the browser mix for dealing with image directories, wrapping them in an index.html which bounces off Apache & PHP on the same machine to do stuff like one-click scaling, slide-show construction or auction listings.
