"Free Software Magazine's Ciaran O’Riordan"

If you meant to imply that he's affiliated to the Free Software Magazine, you're wrong. Ciaran O'Riordan is a full-time lobbyist employed by the Free Software Foundation Europe. To say he's "Free Software Magazine's ..." is as wrong as to say Rob Enderle is microsoft's (d'oh, the latter might just be true *ggg*).

dinotrac: Of course he's not to be trusted. Evil FSF(E) scheming for communist world domination by means of not-actually-free software licenses, right?

But don't trust me, either. I'm a member of the Fellowship of the Free Software Foundation Europe [1] . That means I actually donate money to those evil communists to send folks like Ciaran to Brussels and do his dirrrtydirrrty lobbying thang.

Hmmm. Try actually thinking for a change. You said he is a full-time paid lobbyist. Full-time paid lobbyists are paid mouthpieces and paid mouthpieces are not to be trusted. Period.

They may be useful sources for all kinds of information. That's even true of Microsoft flacks. But trust? No. They exist to espouse a party line for pay. You may like the party line. You may even love it, but that is not a basis for trust.
