I don't see too much of a difference, with the exception of some cosmetic changes and a desktop search utility added. Ah well. It's still in Alpha anyway. | ||

8.04 is supposed to be a "Long Term Support" release, so presumably it'll be less alpha and more beta, getting more stable over its 3-year life. I've been running the last LTS (6.06) a bit lately, and it works quite well. That said, I'm not so hot on the six-month release cycle of Ubuntu. I was happy to see a lot of new packages with 7.10 that really worked with my hardware, but I had enough problems to drive me back into the arms of Debian -- for now, anyway. I do plan to give 8.04 a try. I think Ubuntu is still on the rise in terms of popularity and profile, and I want to keep an eye on it. |

I prefer the attitude of Debian, Mepis, PCLOS and really most other distros.... "What? It ain't ready yet! Come back later..." |
