In her blog, Schroder writes:
Quoting:Anyone that really wants to grow their Linux business doesn't target other Linux businesses, because the real opportunity and growth are in migrations away from Unix and Windows.
Microsoft would much more likely to go after Mindshare and Marketshare, as one influences the other and together they ultimately influence its bottom line. This according to Microsoft. Therefore, much of its shenanigans in its "carefully-crafted PR-speak, FUD, and propaganda", is used to keep both Linux businesses, business with mixed Windows+Linux environments, and [of course!] pure Windows shops always aware of Microsoft. Schroder's example of the great Novell acting as "a branch of Microsoft" effectively illustrates this concept of trying to grab Mindshare from Linux businesses and from those with mixed Windows+Linux environments. One of Novell's and Microsoft's major claims were that the infamous Patent Deal these two companies made was "best for the customer" //sarcastic rolling eyes//. How certainly appropriate, both then and now, were her LXer comments on the LXer posts 'Microsoft claims customer mandate for Novell Linux deal' at http://lxer.com/module/forums/t/24247/ -and- 'Novell: in it for the interop, not the money' at http://lxer.com/module/forums/t/24255/

One can almost imagine that MS Open Source Software Lab's Sam Ramji would soon seriously consider having someone travel from Redmond,WA ~400mi Southeast in order to visit Schroder and make her an IT-offer "she couldn't refuse". Either that or somehow invite Schroder to Redmond in a similar fashion as MS carried out in past years for Eric S. Raymond and Ian Murdock.

Is either possibility really that farfetched ??
