All about the $$$$? The kids who received the first 500,000+ OLPCs would argue about how important the money was.

This kind of project should never have been placed in the hands of corporations. Just like the netbooks being sold with Linux Distros, the whole concept is way beyond the corporate mind set.

Not only the corporations, stupid politicians such as a certain one in Libya who are easily manipulated by some other stupid companies are to blame as well.

If my (biased) sources about the leadership of Libya are correct, and I assume they are because they were quite closely related to Libya, the leaders over there just don't have a clue. One month they might like OLPC, the next month they might like Intel (??? I thought they don't like Israel?) and Microsoft and the next month they might dislike anything American.

Probably what happened in Libya happened in more countries.
