Anyone else heard of Flat World Knowledge? I hadn't. http://www.flatworldknowledge.com/about It's encouraging. A true open source model for textbooks. They've got good authors AND a good business model. Brings all the advantages of open source to that market. These days college is expensive enough without getting hit with big bills for textbooks. Maybe it will lead to greater adoption of FOSS as well. I especially like the fact that they emphasize advantages other than just the low price. |
