Why?

I don't get it. I have an Asus EEEPC 1000HE. At the moment I'm running the standard desktop edition of Karmic and it runs fine. Java SE installs and runs fine on it just as well.

I don't understand. Why do people insist on pushing stripped down OSes (like Moblin) for netbooks when a "normal" desktop works just fine.

Why also this strange JavaME hybrid?

Everybody wants to control the netbook market, and Microsoft showed that lock-in, mindshare, marketing and software are the means to control a certain computer-branche.
