Mr 11 is Louder isn't really getting X.

First, X11 denotes an on-the-wire protocol version, nothing more. The software, which he reckons has become bloated and bitrotten to the point of unmaintainability is not the same as it was in 1984. It's been continually fiddled with, upgraded, extended and modified. Advantage: X11

Second, he has "Quartz and Windows" as better, in some unspecified ways. Is Windows network-transparent? No, RDP notwithstanding. Are multiple implementations of Quartz floating around out there, as X11 has (Hummingbird, Exceed, the Mac X11 server, etc etc)? No. X11 isn't without flaws, as we all know, but he's not hitting any of the real problems (like crappy motion picture performance, font oddities, etc). He's just saying that X11 isn't Windows, and isn't Quartz, so it's bad.

In short, don't bother with this article.

I haven't bothered with anything from there in some time.
