Similar to the piece commented upon in http://lxer.com/module/forums/t/34179/.

Specifically here, Is this particular 'How to build a router based on Linux' a guide to actually building a router -or- is it really some sort of a review/pitch of one particular product??

The piece starts of with
Quoting:The latest, most expensive routers include so many facilities you'd be forgiven for thinking they're more like PCs than tools for networking. This thought should lead you to wonder if you can use a regular PC to do the same thing. The answer, thanks to Linux, is that you can - and it's very easy. There are many different Linux distributions designed specifically to turn your machine into a router or a gateway, complete with any number of enhancements.
It is therefore understandable that one may expect at least some mention of how to actually BUILD "a router based on Linux", as well mention of at least two "different Linux distributions designed specifically to turn your machine into a router or a gateway."

But lo and behold, this fails to occur. Instead, the piece quickly delves right into describing the process of setting up A SINGLE Linux distro. The piece essentially goes over the key details of Installation and Configuration of ClearOS as well as adding a "number of enhancements" to go along with the essential Configuration steps.

Where exactly are the Build stages in all of this ??

If this piece is more of ClearOS installation & usage guide than any type of review or news item, then why did this piece end up in the category of Story Type:News Story instead of Story Type:Tutorial ??

As this piece mentions the fact that there are "many different Linux distributions designed specifically to turn your machine into a router or a gateway", why then is there no mention for comparative purposes of at least one other distro ??
