New way to boot into command line from GRUB

They say replace "quiet splash" with "text." Nice! I usually put in a 3 for runlevel 3, but this seems like a better alternative, plus they show you how to make it permanent if that's what you want.

What happened to "quiet no-splash"?

Was "no-splash" just depreciated, or does "text" do something different?

"Quiet" has to do with the logging verbosity, I think.

Sorry, careless writing on my part.

I used to delete "quiet" and add "no-splash" so I could watch the boot process. I meant :

What does "text" do, that wasn't already available?
