No, it's nothing new. But, in response to these developments: My PC browser has and adblocker and noscript installed. I almost never use the browser on my phone, and when I do it's to specific sites for specific reasons. My TV is an old CRT unit that can't even receive modern broadcasts (which is fine, because where we live we can't get any broadcast TV), but works fine for playing DVD's.
