Hugin is an excellent cross-platform panorama stitcher favored by many users of not only Linux, but also Windows. It’s used to stitch multiple photos taken in succession into one panorama, and includes the ability to manually align stitching points, as well as lens effects, tunnel correction, and blending of edges and colors to make the image as natural as possible.

Ubuntu 5.10 reaches end-of-life

Ubuntu announced the release of 5.10 almost 18 months ago, on October 13th. The support period is now nearing its end and Ubuntu 5.10 will reach end of life on Friday April 13th 2007.

Long story short - Joey Schulze is looking for a sponsor of his work at DWN or he retires from that task. An outcome of Dunc-tank is that when money came into the equation, he had to reconsider his schedules.

Debian Installer RC2 kick-off

Frans Pop has announced that with the upload of the new kernel for Etch, we can now start seriously preparing the RC2 release of Debian Installer. He is particularly happy that they managed to fix some important issues in the graphical frontend, which is now a lot more stable than it was for RC1.

Debian powers Australia's largest satellite network

Some 75 towns across New South Wales have started accessing the Internet through Debian-based satellite routers in what is said to be largest network of its type in Australia spanning upwards of 800,000 square kilometres.
