Mandriva, through Eugeni Dodonov, announced last evening, March 16th, the immediate availability for testing of the first Beta version of the upcoming Mandriva 2011 Linux operating system.

Mandriva 2011 Beta 1 is powered by Linux kernel 2.6.37.2, it features updates to the desktop theme, a development version of NetworkManager, integration of TexLive 2010, KDE Software Compilation 4.6.1, lots of updates and many bug fixes.

"Besides packages updates, it also features plasma-applet-stackfolder application, developed by ROSA Labs, which will make part of new Mandriva 2011 UI. To see it in action, simple drag any folder from dolphin to KDE taskbar, and have fun." - said Eugeni Dodonov in the Mandriva blog announcement.
