Xen For ARM Is Set For The Linux 3.7 Kernel
Xen virtualization support for the ARM architecture is now set to be pulled for the Linux 3.7 kernel.
With the Linux 3.7 kernel merge window now open following the Linux 3.6 kernel release, it looks like the ARM Xen virtualization support will finally land.
Xen virtualization for the ARM Cortex A15 has been a work in progress since last year, but it looks like the patches are finally ready for mainline. In July of this year they hit an important milestone a Linux domU was able to boot with a root file-system on a Xen PV disk while using ARMv7 hardware. In August there was then a revised patch series of Xen virtualization support for ARM.
Today on the Linux kernel mailing list is now a git pull request for "Xen on ARM" support. This Xen ARM work is being maintained by Stefano Stabellini. The pull request was submitted to Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk of Oracle who serves as the Linux Xen maintainer. This Xen ARM support for the Cortex A15 will hopefully hit the Xen tree and then ideally be pulled by Linus Torvalds during the 3.7 merge window.
