Egosoft Wants To Bring Games To Steam On Linux
In part due to Steam now being available on Linux, Egosoft wants to hire a Linux game developer to continue bringing their X3 games to the penguin platform.
From Egosoft in years prior was X3: Reunion and X2: The Threat brought to Linux. For the earlier Egosoft titles, Linux Game Publishing handled the ports. But with LGP becoming increasingly irrelevant and Egosoft wanting to push their titles out over Steam, they want to bring some Linux talent in-house.
Egosoft is now hiring at least one developer with good knowledge of C/C++, OpenGL, SDL, Steam, and other related areas of expertise. Starting from the X3: Reunion as a basis, they want Linux ports of X3: Terrain Conflict and X3: Albion Prelude. X3: Terrain Conflict is a standalone game based upon X3: Reunion and was released in 2008. X3: Albion Prelude was released in 2011 and is another game based upon the German company's "X3 Reality" game engine.
