Everything Raspberry Pi at the Pi Hut — but it’s mighty expensive for no good reason

Sure it’s in England, but The Pi Hut offers all things Raspberry Pi in one place.

Time to start thinking about my print server and file server and personal web server and hillbilly laptop projects.

Later: Readers over at LXer.com report that prices are very high at the Pi Hut. Another one bites the dust.

Thanks for setting me straight, people.

  1. The Pi is more expensive but the other stuff you can find better if you know where to look (but separate shipping kills the idea).
If you want to one step shop for Pi, is there anything better? Ive seen some nice lego looking cases and Adafruit does some Pi stuff but I want to be able to tell someone “Go here, buy the Pi, the power supply, SD card, Wifi USB and USB hub and whatever necessary cables and get your kids-niece–hephews into this!”
Is there are place that I can do that?

Speaking of which, what is the cheapest you think a Pi kit will go for minimum wh3en you add all the things Im talking about? I say a bit under 100$ and we havent talked about keyboard.

The only way this can be a true educational success is if mom and dad who dont know anything about computers can spend 60-75$ on a Pi Ki that their child can plug into a TV and then go online and learn throughout a combiation of online lessons, youtube videos and experiments.
For geeks and a few teachers, this might not seem a big deal but until a neophyte can buy a kit and get their child learning byt themselves, it wont be a far reaching success.
I think a one stop shopping place is a must.
If this one is too expensive, the show me another one stop place. Until then, its one of the only (!) one.

The Linux and Pi inside stickers are awesome.

On this side of the atlantic the Adafruit Starter kit goes for 105$.

  2. Yeah, Pi Hut is a bit on the pricey side. If you take a look at my blog on the right hand-side, there’s a box containing lots of links to place to shop for Pi bits. The address is http://www.recantha.co.uk/blog
There are some other posts (tagged as ‘Shopping’) on there too, one of which compares prices for Pis.
Let me know if I’ve missed any!
