The GNOME Foundation announced that they were planning to hold the 14th GUADEC Conference in Brno, Czech Republic. The announcement also mentions some details about the 15th GUADEC Conference, which will be held in Strasbourg, France, in 2014.

GUADEC (the GNOME User and Developer European Conference) 2013 will start on August 1 and it will end on August 8, 2013. The event will be held at the Brno University of Technology, Liberix.

Florian Nadge, from the local Brno organizing team, says “We are thrilled to have GUADEC 2013 in Brno and hope to see you all in our amazing city."

Moreover, the Board of Directors of the GNOME Foundation also announced that GUADEC 2014 would be held in Strasbourg, France, enabling the local Strasbourg team to better prepare for the upcoming conference.

"We are proud to be able to host GUADEC not only in France, 15 years after the first GUADEC in Paris, but also in a city that is central to Europe," says Alexandre Franke, organizer of GUADEC 2014.

The GUADEC event is a great opportunity for free and open source software experts from all over the world to get together and share their knowledge. More than 250 GNOME developers, users, foundation leaders, governments, individuals and businesses will be present at the event to discuss the future of the GNOME desktop environment.

"GUADEC has become an essential event for the GNOME community, providing a venue for critical issues to be discussed and new community members to integrate fully."

"Both Brno and Strasbourg promise to provide excellent experiences and I know we will especially benefit from being able to plan more than a year in advance for 2014," said Karen Sandler, executive director of the GNOME Foundation.
