Oracle Linux 5.9 Is Out, Carries Unbreakable Kernel 2

Version 5.9 of Oracle Linux, the company's incarnation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9, is now available. This release also ships with Oracle's Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 2.

It was just last week that marked the release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9 while announced on Wednesday was Oracle's matching Oracle Linux 5.9 update.

Oracle Linux 5.9 ships with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 2, which is based upon the Linux 2.6.39-300 kernel. Oracle's advertised highlights for release 2 of their "unbreakable kernel" is the Btrfs file-system, performance/scalability improcements, virtualization improvements, Transparent Huge Pages and Memory compaction, Linux containers, Cgroups improvements, OCFS2 improvements, and newer device drivers.
