LinuxQuestions.org Turns Thirteen
I'm extremely proud to announce that exactly 13 years ago today I made the very first post at LQ, which served to introduce it to the world. To say that LQ has exceed my expectations since then would be a monumental understatement. 4,957,188 posts and over a half million members do not even begin to tell the story. The community and mod team that has grown here at LQ is truly amazing and something that I'm very proud to be a part of. I'd like to once again thank each and every LQ member for their participation, dedication and feedback. Without you, LQ quite simply wouldn't exist.
To say that feedback has been absolutely critical to our success is also an understatement. With that in mind, I'd like to use this thread to collect as much feedback as possible about LQ. What are we doing well and where can we improve? What new features or sections would you like to see? What should we be doing differently? When giving your feedback, please remember that LQ will be updated to the next generation code platform in the near future. To get a peek at what that platform will be like, please visit http://www.ChromeOSQuestions.org/forum.php. Feedback on that site is very much welcome as well.
As part of our 13 year anniversary, we'll be giving away some LQ Merchandise and a gratis pass for OSCON 2013. We'll also be randomly selecting posts from this thread and upgrading that member to "Contributing Member" status for one year. Stay tuned.
Awesome Jeremy. You know in the last 5 or 6 years i haven't had to ask that many questions because so many of them are already answered. This forum actually got me up to speed on several things, like which distro to use, and which text editor, network utililies etc...
I participate in several stackexchange forums. (I was happily using LQ for several years before that.) These forums have a reputation system and I get weekly emails from them with top posts, message notifications, etc.
I joined linuxexchange in August, but I never get any emails from it and almost never remember to go there.
I think it would be great if it worked more like stackexchange and encouraged me to go there.

Thanks for the feedback. You can subscribe to LE emails under "User tools -> email notification settings".
Jeremy,
Congratulations for the perseverance. Tough to carry on an enterprise for such a period. With out linux I am sure I would be crazier having to chace down drivers for every add on. Linux has been a lot easier and more fun with this repository of knowledge. I have enjoyed the solutions presented here many times. Keep up the good work. Marty from ct.
This forum is my go-to-resource for all things Linux. I have gone from Windows, to Mac to BSD, Fedora 17 and now Ubuntu 12.04LTS. I am still learning, but more and more comfortable with the unpacking, compiling and building process! You guys have made it all possible.
Congratulations on 13 years of what I am sure has been some blood, sweat and tears!
