Enlightenment E17 Stands A Chance For Fedora 20
After the long-awaited Enlightenment E17 official release that happened at the end of last year, packaging E17 was talked about for Fedora 19 but ultimately they didn't land in the Fedora repository even though the packaging work was being done. For Fedora 20, Enlightenment again is being brought up again as a feature.
On the Fedora Project Wiki is the latest Enlightenment E17 proposal. "Enlightenment 0.17 a new stable release has been released after 12 years or so of development. As many desktops are being landed on Fedora, Integrating Enlightenment in Fedora can not only enlarge the number of available desktops in Fedora, but also improve user experiences and give users another choice of Desktop Environment."
What the Enlightenment fans are hoping out of this feature is just that the packaged E17 packages have a chance of being accepted into the Fedora repo. "Just package every dependency and promise that they can be reviewed 'PASS'."
Seeing as Enlightenment has been around for a long time, has a fair following, and is lightweight while still offering fancy features and can run on Wayland, it's surprising that Enlightenment still isn't packaged and available inside Fedora. Hopefully this will finally change for Fedora 20, which is to be released before the end of the year.
Fedora 20 will also be home to a number of other exciting features and some controversial decisions.
