Martin Gräßlin, the German KWin window manager maintainer for KDE, is making good progress in porting the code-base for KDE Frameworks 5 compatibility.

After getting some early Wayland support in place, Gräßlin has been working on KDE Frameworks 5 support in recent weeks.

In a new blog post this morning, Martin shares that KWin is now in a Qt Quick 2 world.

Porting from Qt Quick 1 to Qt Quick 2 has required adjustments to the QML files and C++ code. Martin writes, "right now all usages of QtQuick in KWin core and KWin effects have been ported to QtQuick 2. Still remaining is Aurorae – this needs some more work as the window decoration API needs adjustments anyway given that right now rendering of decorations in non-compositing is broken."
