Kristian Høgsberg has provided a status update on the Wayland project and its associated Weston reference compositor.

Just ahead of the Wayland 1.3 release, Kristian Høgsberg spoke this week at the XDC2013 X.Org Developers' Conference about the state of Wayland/Weston.

If you're an ardent Phoronix reader, there really isn't any major new information presented in Kristian's hour-long presentation from Portland, Oregon given our hundreds of Wayland articles over the years. Kristian's presentation does include demoing Wayland/Weston. The video was uploaded late to YouTube, but it's now available and has been embedded below.

If you want to get wet with Wayland, one of the easiest ways to do it coming up will be by trying out Fedora 20 with its "Wayland Tech Preview" that also supports GNOME 3.10 running on the X.Org Server alternative.

Be sure to read the rest of our XDC2013 coverage for staying updated on the latest X.Org/Wayland/Mesa advancements.
