Initial AMD Radeon R9 270X Linux Benchmarks
I mentioned that Radeon R9 270X Linux benchmarks would be coming and now I have the first Ubuntu Linux results to post of the AMD Radeon R9 270X with the Catalyst driver.
The AMD Radeon R9 270X Linux review is planned to come next week, but for now are some standalone results from the Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X on Linux. As mentioned in the earlier article, this R9 270X wasn't a review sample from AMD or any of their AIB partners but sadly had to be purchased retail as AMD doesn't seem interested in having Linux-based benchmarks of their new Rx 200 series graphics cards. I purchased this graphics card thanks to those subscribing to Phoronix Premium and providing PayPal tips.
The AMD Radeon R9 270X is a $199 graphics card based around the "Curacao XT" graphics core and is clocked at 1000MHz, 1050MHz Boost, and 1400MHz clock speed for its 2GB of GDDR5 video memory.
Among the result files you can look at for some early numbers of the Radeon R9 270X with the Catalyst 13.11 Beta driver on Ubuntu Linux include:
- 1310189-SO-RADEONR9261
- 1310185-SO-IDTECH4EN96
- 1310181-SO-RADEONR9261
Besides looking at these results alone on OpenBenchmarking.org, when installing the Phoronix Test Suite you can also run our open-source automated benchmarking software with any of these result files to facilitate a side-by-side comparison against your own system, e.g. phoronix-test-suite benchmark 1310189-SO-RADEONR9261.
Stay tuned for the full review next week that compares the Radeon R9 270X Linux performance against multiple AMD Radeon and NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards. Also coming is a NVIDIA GeForce 650 Linux review thanks to Phoronix patrons.
