X.Org Server 1.15 RC Brings Multiple New Features

Keith Packard put out the first release candidate to X.Org Server 1.15 this morning. The merge window is now over and a number of new features ended up getting merged for this delayed released.

This morning I wrote about the merging of DRI3 and the new Present Extension, which is awesome, but besides that there's also the GLX code re-write that drops tens of thousands of lines of code from the xorg-server, support for future Mesa versions built using the mega driver strategy, and other changes.

X.Org Server 1.15 was released back in September but was delayed to the end of the year as at that time they didn't have any interesting features warranting a new X.Org Server debut.

With X.Org Server 1.15 RC1 being out and the merge window being over, for the next nearly two months it will be all about bug-fixing before shipping X.Org Server 1.15 at the end of 2013.

More details on the changes found for X.Org Server 1.15 RC1 can be found via the mailing list announcement, but sadly there isn't anything Wayland or Mir related for their X11 compatibility layers.
