Alejandro Piñeiro from the GNOME development team was proud to announce a few days ago that the second maintenance release of the stable GNOME 3.10 desktop environment is ready for download and upgrade.

GNOME 3.10.2 is also (most probably) the last maintenance release for the 3.10 branch of the famous desktop environment, a release that brings numerous updated applications and core libraries, as well as several improvements and new functionality, all in order to keep the GNOME 3.10 release stable and reliable.

Therefore, the GNOME 3.10.2 updates the following main applications: Anjuta, Bijiben, Cheese, Devhelp, Evolution, File Roller, Gedit, GNOME Boxes, GNOME Chess, GNOME Documents, GNOME Maps, GNOME Photos, Orca, Rygel, Vinagre, as well as the following games: Aisleriot, Five or More, GNOME Mahjongg, GNOME Sudoku, Quadrapassel, and Tali.

Also, among the updated core components and libraries, we can mention Empathy, Eye of GNOME, Epiphany, Evince, Folks, GLib2, GLib Networking, GNOME Calculator, GNOME Control Center, GNOME Online Accounts, GNOME Settings Daemon, GNOME Shell, GNOME System Monitor, GNOME Terminal, GTK+, gtkmm, Gucharmap, GVFS, libsoup, Mutter, Nautilus, NetworkManager Applet, Pango, PyGobject, Tracker, and Vala.

Many of the aforementioned applications and libraries have detailed articles on Softpedia, so you need to read them if you want to know what exactly has been changed in each one. Moreover, you can always take a closer look at the detailed GNOME 3.10.2 raw changelogs, here and here.

As we've stated at the beginning of the article, there won't be any more maintenance releases for the GNOME 3.10 desktop environment, at least not according to the official release schedule. Most probably, if major bugs will appear, some of the packages will be upgraded to version 3.10.3, but there won't be any official GNOME 3.10.3 release on the market, as from now on the developers will concentrate their efforts on the next major release, GNOME 3.12.
