All the Debian flavors have received this update

The Debian 7.8 "Wheezy" Live CD has been released by the developers and it arrives just a couple of weeks after the installable version was made available.

Debian developers do this with each Live edition and it's not unusual to see it released even two weeks later. It's nothing out of the ordinary and it's a common occurrence. The Live edition of Debian doesn't get the same kind of love the regular release does, but there's really nothing wrong with that. Debian users are familiar with this, even if users of other distros expect to see a complete ISO image launched.

The new Debian images are not different from the previous ones in any way, except that they are Live and bootable, but that's pretty much it. Even if they arrived a couple of weeks late to the party, it doesn't mean that the packages will be newer as well.

Debian 7.8 "Wheezy" Live CD lets users test all the flavors

People are used to see Debian with the default environment, which is GNOME for the time being, but there are other flavors available for download and having Live CD images is a good way of seeing all kinds of desktop environments in action, including KDE, Xfce, and LXDE.

"This update mainly adds corrections for security problems to the stable release, along with a few adjustments for serious problems. Security advisories were already published separately and are referenced where available. Please note that this update does not constitute a new version of Debian 7 but only updates some of the packages included. There is no need to throw away old 'wheezy' CDs or DVDs but only to update via an up-to-date Debian mirror after an installation," wrote the developer in the original announcement.
