The devs are hinting that the Beta is close to release

Ozon OS "Hydrogen" is a new Linux distribution based on Fedora 21 developed by a team from Nitrux and Numix. It's been in the works for quite some time and it looks like a new Beta release is almost here.

The interest in Ozon OS has been growing steadily over the past few months and with good reason. It promises a unique and clean desktop experience that is somewhat different from what the rest of the devs are doing. It might feel familiar at first glance, but this is not just a theme and icon pack slapped over GNOME. It's much more than that.

The developers from the Nitrux and Numix team have put together a new desktop shell called Atom ES. They also have a new dock in place called Atom dock, which rests at the bottom. It looks a little bit minimalistic, but that was probably the intention of the devs from the get go. They are also using a rather flat approach, but not all the way.

Ozon OS "Hydrogen" Beta is almost here

We were hoping to get to play with the new Beta today, but it looks like we're going to have to wait. The devs are taking their time with the packaging and they want to make sure that everything is in order.

"Whilst waiting for us to finish off the logistics from hell for Ozon beta release, here have screenshots of the beta itself. This should represent to 99%, if not 100% how absolutely stock Ozon OS Hydrogen Beta will look. P.S> Of course while using it, your apps will get ordered by usage, so the most used ones will go on the top left, the least used on bottom right," wrote the devs on Google+. You can also check their Facebook and Twitter accounts for more details.

Make sure to check back for Ozon OS. We'll have a screenshot tour of the new distro and more information once it becomes available.
