14 DAY TRIAL // GCompris, an educational software suite providing fun activities for kids aged 2 to 10, has been upgraded to version 15.02 and is now available for download.
The Linux platform has a ton of educational software, but it's usually aimed at young people and not at kids. GCompris aims to correct that by providing a suite that can be used by a small kids, starting with small ages like 2 or 3. Basically, if they can hold and use the mouse, they will find something useful to do with this application.
There is little competition for GCompris, but that hasn't stopped developers from making various improvements and changes from time to time. It's actually a complex piece of software with a lot of working parts. Some of the applications inside, like GNU Paint, can be downloaded separately, but they are also integrated in GCompris. As you would expect, this excellent suite is completely free of charge.
GCompris has a ton of games and apps
Not everything in GCompris is just about games. There are quite few apps in there that might look like games, but they are there for educational purposes. For example, one of the apps is a great teacher for kids who want to learn how to read a watch.
