While we prepare our GNU/Linux distributions for the anticipated GNOME 3.16 desktop environment, which will be unveiled next Wednesday, on March 25, 2015, the GNOME development team still updates some of the core components of the current stable release of the desktop, GNOME 3.14.

As such, we can report that the GNOME Control Center 3.14.4 component has been released recently and it addresses a crash that could occur in the Details section if nightly builds of Mozilla Firefox were used as the default web browser. Also, a potential crash and multiple memory leaks have been fixed in the Network section.

The clone mode in the Display section has been repaired as well, which could lead to broken setups in certain conditions. Moreover, a memory leak has been fixed in the input chooser of the Region section, hidden configuration options are no longer saved in the Network section, and button mappings are now allowed in the Wacom section if the stylus has a button too.

Some IPv6 VPN issues have been repaired in the Network section

In addition to the above, GNOME Control Center 3.14.4 makes the "Only for this network" option from the Network section to work for IPv6 VPNs (Virtual Private Networks), reuses the input chooser instance in the Region section, addresses a possible crash when switching outputs and inputs in the Sound section, and prevents a couple of alerts from being played at the same time in some cases in the Sound section.

Several language translations have also been updated in the fourth maintenance release of GNOME Control Center app. You can download the GNOME Control Center 3.14.4 sources right now from Softpedia, but it is highly recommended to update the package from your distribution’s software repositories via the default package manager application. Make sure you check out the official changelog below for more details.
