Half-Life 2: Update, a community-made mod of Valve's acclaimed Half-Life 2 first-person shooter video game, the sequel to Half-Life, is now available on Steam for Linux.

Half-Life 2: Update is a freely downloadable mod for owners of the original Half-Life 2, bringing stunning lighting, an all-new Community Commentary Mode, as well as numerous bug fixes.

With this community-developed update for Half-Life 2, players will have the unique opportunity to revisit City 17 and benefit from all the new goodies that have been implemented.

"Meticulously developed by Half-Life community member Filip Victor, Half-Life 2: Update offers both long-time fans and first time players the most visually advanced, stable, and fully-featured version of Half-Life 2 to date in one free mod download."

Among some of the highlights of Half-Life 2: Update, we can mention enhanced lighting, full HDR (High Dynamic Range) lighting, more detailed world shadows, improved fog, and new particle effects.

Another interesting feature implemented in this mod for Half-Life 2 is a comprehensive Community Commentary Mode that features voices of well-known YouTubers, including Brutalmoose, Caddicarus, Balrog the Master, Ricepirate, Ross Scott from Freeman's Mind, and ProJared.

In addition to the new features mentioned above, numerous issues have been corrected in both graphics and game engine of the original Half-Life 2 game, but it promises to preserve the iconic Half-Life 2 gameplay and visual style.
