Larian Studios have just revealed that they intend to release Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition, a reworked version of the original game that was made available just last year, and it's going to be available for the Linux platform as well.

Divinity: Original Sin is probably one of the biggest, most complex and interesting adventure games ever made. It was released last year after the developers from Larian Studios went to Kickstarter and funded their project successfully. It took them years to finish it, and they've done an amazing job.

Interesting enough, they now want to improve upon the original experience, but not with a single patch or some DLCs. They want to rework the entire game and to add new gameplay, voiceovers, a new ending, and hundreds of other changes. All the platforms are going to be supported, including Linux.

Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition is going to be glorious

The only other studio that ever attempted such as project was CD Project for the first game in the Witcher series. Now, Larian Studios is trying to do pretty much the same thing, but on a much larger scale.

"Today we are very excited to announce Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition for PS4 and Xbox One as well as PC, Mac, SteamOS and Linux. This isn't just some patch or minor content update to the game you all know and (hopefully) love; it's a whole new experience! With controller support, local co-op with split screen, fully voiced characters, a totally reworked story (with a brand new ending), and much more, we're very proud to finally be able to share what we've crafted here at Larian," wrote the studio on the Kickstarter page.

The only difference (or problem) is that Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition is a new game and not an upgrade for the old one. For technical reasons that couldn't been done and not even the save games will work.

Apart from the new gameplay, story elements, and voiceovers, the game now also benefits from gamepad support, which means that it will playable in Big Picture more on Steam.
