The development cycle of the upcoming GNOME 3.18 desktop environment continues these days with the third milestone, dubbed 3.17.3, for which many of GNOME's core components have been updated, including the Evince document viewer software.

According to the attached release notes, Evince 3.17.3 introduces support for adding highlight annotations, as well as squiggly highlight annotations and moving text annotations, which will now have a fixed size of 24x24.

Additionally, the GTK_SCROLL_START/GTK_SCROLL_END class is now handled in the fit-to-page mode. Two bugs were addressed in Evince 3.17.3, one of them related to loosing annotation properties, which no longer happens when attempting to change the subtype of a highlight annotation.

The second issue is related to moving the page focus, a function that has been restricted only for current pages that have a focused element, which might prevent the view from jumping to the first or last page when the Tab key is pressed by the user and there are no focusable elements in the respective document.

Last but not least, the German, Spanish, Romanian, Turkish, and Chinese (Taiwan) language translations have been updated.

The source code of Evince 3.17.3 can be downloaded right now from Softpedia, but please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release software and it is not recommended for deployment in production environments.
