Red Hat rolls elastic Linux under SAP's HANA

Server friend finds love in big, bouncy AWS cloud

Having put SAP’s HANA in-memory database on its Linux, Red Hat has gone off-premise with Amazon.

The Linux shop has announced Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP HANA is now available minus the inconvenience of owning the tin, as a service on AWS.

Red Hat announced RHEL for HANA a year ago and said putting things on AWS offered customers additional deployment options for big-data workloads.

The offering is certified, meaning you get customer support.

HANA was already available as an option on AWS

The addition of Red Hat to HANA on AWS means subscription-paying customers can also deploy Red Hat Cloud Access for JBoss Enterprsie Application Platform, JBoss Enterprsie Web Server, OpenShift by Red Hat and Red Hat’s Gluster Storage on AWS.

The pairing of Red Hat and AWS comes after Oracle – long hostile to Red Hat – announced a price war against Amazon while rolling out new cloud services. ®
