The Kodi development team has announced the immediate availability for download and testing of the second RC (Release Candidate) version of the upcoming and highly anticipated Kodi 15.0 cross-platform and open-source media center software.

According to the attached changelog, Kodi 15.0 RC2 is here to fix an endless loop in the PVR (Personal Video Recorder) component as it caused high CPU load, to repair the sorting by episodes function, to patch a crash that occurred when opening a context menu item, and to fix playback of various HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) files.

"Here it is, the second Release Candidate (RC) built for Kodi 15.0; freshly baked and ready to be served! Although we said that Kodi 15.0 is a 'clean-up' edition, we still managed to squeeze in a couple of really nice features. So far we had around 1080 code change requests which were included since Kodi 14.2," reads the announcement.

Additionally, there's also a fix for some issues with genres and grouping by artists in smartplaylists, as well as a patch for issues with video calibration on the Android build of the software. Kodi 15.0 no longer uses hardware decoding for H.264/10-bit video files and it now avoids deadlocking and freezing in peripheralmanager.

Last but not least, Kodi 15.0 now downloads OBB files automatically. As usual, you can download the new Kodi 15.0 (Isengard) Release Candidate build right now via Softpedia or directly from the project's official website, just keep in mind the fact that it is a pre-release piece of software that contains known issues and might be unstable.
