After several months of hard work, the developers behind the next-generation Kodi open-source and cross-platform media center software, formerly known as XBMC Media Center, are more than proud to announce the release of Kodi 15.0, codename Isengard.

Dubbed by its developers the "One Release to Rule Them All," the final version of Kodi 15.0 is now available for download for all supported platforms, including GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows, and introduces a great number of new features, performance improvements, and many other goodies.

Prominent features of Kodi 15.0 include the official release of Kodi for Android in the Google Play store, a new chapter selector window, adaptive seeking (also known as Skip Steps), subtitle and audio lists, expanded international preferences, language add-ons, better add-on manager, and numerous other improvements (see the videos and screenshots at the end of the article for details).

“We are proud to announce the release of Kodi 15.0. No new name this time around, but many new features that cover requests both more than 5 years old and less than 5 months old. Let’s take a quick look at a few,” reads the official release announcement. “Perhaps the biggest news for Kodi 15 isn’t a feature at all, but rather the official release of Kodi for Android in the Google Play store.”

Here's what else is new in Kodi 15.0

In addition to the new features listed above, Kodi 15.0 "Isengard" contains the FFMpeg 2.6.3 multimedia framework, fixes for the music video queuing, better Closed Captioning (CC) support in Live TV, and support for decoding Windows DXVA HEVC hardware, but only if the required hardware and driver exist.

Last but not but not least, there's now support for scanning new sources, as well as support for marking files as watched during various media library operations, including updates. Download Kodi 15.0 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, and many other platforms right now via Softpedia or from the project's official website.
