The development team behind Lubuntu, an open-source and freely distributed flavor of the popular Ubuntu Linux operating system, announced a few minutes ago the release of the second Alpha build for the upcoming Lubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) distribution.

Being powered by Ubuntu 15.10's latest Linux 4.1 kernel, Lubuntu 15.10 Alpha 2 is still built around the LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) graphical desktop interface, but the team of developers behind the distribution are working hard to make the switch to the next-generation LXQt desktop environment.

Those of you who want to take the second Alpha build of Lubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) for a test drive, can download the Live DVD ISO images from Softpedia. The OS is currently distributed as Desktop and Alternate images, available for 64-bit (x86_64) and 32-bit (i386) hardware architectures.

We remind everyone attempting to install Lubuntu 15.10 Alpha 2 that this is a pre-release version, meaning it still contains several unknown issues, which have been detailed on the official release notes of the distribution, and it is not recommended for deployment on production machines where stability is of the essence.
