Just a few minutes ago, Mozilla pushed the third hotfix update to its popular, open-source, and cross-platform Mozilla Firefox 40.0 web browser for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

According to the internal release notes, which we have attached at the end of the article for reference, Mozilla Firefox 40.0.3 is here to disable the initialization of the asynchronous plugin, address a segmentation fault in the GStreamer support on GNU/Linux OSes, as well as fix a startup crash that occurred when using the DisplayLink technology on Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Moreover, Mozilla Firefox 40.0.3 patches a regression that was introduced by previous releases of the software and related to various Japanese fonts that were used in the < input > field. Mozilla also added various missing search partner codes in Firefox 40.0.3, and managed to fix the selection in a select combox box when using a mouse, which appeared not to work correctly on some websites.

Available now in all supported Ubuntu OSes

Of course, there are many other small security fixes that need to be plugged from the stable branch of the Mozilla Firefox 40.0 web browser. All users are urged to update as soon as possible using the built-in updater utility found on the About Firefox dialog. You can also download Mozilla Firefox 40.0.3 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia.

In related news, Canonical was extremely fast to push the new Mozilla Firefox 40.0.3 release to the main software repositories of the Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet), Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr), and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) operating systems a few minutes ago. Users of other GNU/Linux distros should check the default software repos in the next hours or days for the Mozilla Firefox 40.0.3 hotfix.
