On August 27, the developers of the Vivaldi project announced the release and immediate availability for download of a new snapshot for the cross-platform web browser, Vivaldi 1.0.257.3.

According to the release notes, Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.257.3 brings a brand new visual tab cycler, which promises to improve the tab navigation using keyboard shortcuts by displaying a list with all tabs in the order they are opened. Additionally, the new tab cycler will display a thumbnail for each tab, along with the web page's title, so that you can identify them more easily.

To enable the new visual tab cycler in Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.257.3, you must open the Settings or Preferences dialog, depending on which operating system you're using for the web browser, access the Tabs section, then go to the new Tab Cycling entry, and activate the Cycle Tabs Visually option.

"We are currently improving this cycler further so that it is visually more pleasing and functional. In addition we need to do more work on thumbnails, since not always updated correctly," says Ruarí Ødegaard. "If you see issues with thumbnails not updating and have ideas about when it happens, let us know in the comments below."

Improvements to Cookie management

In addition to the new tab cycler, Snapshot 1.0.257.3 of the Vivaldi web browser comes with improvements to the management of Cookies, such as the ability to view and delete individual cookies, which might come in handy to those of you who don't want to be tracked by certain websites. The feature is available in the Privacy -> Cookie Control -> Cookies section of the Settings/Preferences dialog.

A few hours after the release of the Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.257.3, the team pushed a new Snapshot, version 1.0.258.3, which fixes languages and improves tab selection for easier tiling. As usual, you can take the latest snapshot of the Vivaldi web browser for a test drive by downloading it for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, or Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia. However, we remind you that this is a pre-release version, not suitable for production use.
